DR. SANDERS has over 25 years of research, teaching, and consulting experience in Communication.  Her B.A. and M.A. degrees are from the University of Maryland and her Ph.D. in Speech Communication and Human Relations is from the University of Kansas.  She taught at both of those universities before moving to the University of Missouri-St. Louis where she spent ten years as a professor and administrator.  Dr. Sanders has authored numerous journal articles and other publications, including the chapter "Winning Presentations" in the 2009 edition (and all previous editions" of the book MARKETING HANDBOOK FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PROFESSIONAL.

As founder of The Clayton Consulting Group, Dr. Sanders' client list includes scores of professional services firms.  She helps architects, engineers and builders establish their brand, integrate marketing and sales functions with their strategic goals, enhance prospect and client relationships, and win profitable work.  On business development and/or competitive presentations for contracts totaling over $37billion, her win rate tops 70%.

Clients also include Fortune 500 corporations, retail chains, healthcare facilities and educational and cultural institutions.  She helps individuals and work groups develop their communication skills and improve presentation effectiveness, and travels abroad to coach international executives on "American" business presentation style and strategy.  She has coached top executives of major corporations including Freddie Mac, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Starbucks, McDonnell Douglas, Caterpillar, Anheuser-Busch, Monsanto, Sara Lee, Verizon, Prudential, and Ben and Jerry themselves!

From 1993 to 2000, she was VP-Business Planning & Marketing for Sverdrup Civil Inc. - a Top Ten ENR firm - and was named to the firm's Board of Directors in 1995.  She directed the firm's sales training and services as well as its marketing strategy, information and support units numbering over 45 people with budgets over $4million.  In 1998 the company merged with Jacobs Engineering Corp. to become the 3rd largest A/E/C firm in the U.S.

In January of 2000, Dr. Sanders returned to The Clayton Consulting Group where she helps a broad spectrum of individuals and organizations achieve their goals through more effective communication.  In August of 2000 her contributions to the profession were recognized when she was named a Fellow of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.
