Staying Competitive, Creating Jobs - Exciting Projects for Spokane Public Facilities District
Presenter: Johnna Boxley, General Manager
Spokane Convention Center and INB Performing Arts Center
Join MAS as we learn about new developments with the Spokane Public Facilities District. The SPFD's primary goal is to ensure that Spokane continues to draw the nation's best sports, entertainment, meeting and convention events sot that the District remains a strong and successful regional economic engine. SPFD will discuss upcoming projects including the Spokane Convention Center completion, downtown shoreline enhancements, and Spokane Arena seating upgrades. The SPFD anticipates these projects will have more than $173 million dollars of economic impact in our region, and sustain 800 construction jobs. In April 2012 there will be a public vote, which will not add new taxes but rather use existing sales and bed taxes to fund these projects. The Spokane Public Facilities District hopes to discuss these projects and address any questions from our architecture, engineering and construction group.
Johnna Boxley is the General Manager of the Spokane Convention Center and INB Performing Arts Center and has been with the facilities district for 19 years. She has a Master's Degree from EWU and formerly worked for the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department. She has taught at both the Community Colleges and at Eastern Washington University.
